hi,
just like to get an understanding on receiver channels in the running state. If i stop this receiver channel and do a display chstatus, i often see no channel status. However, sometimes i see its running. Can i say that whenever there is a sender channel connecting to this receiver channel, then the status will change to Running? thanks

Unfortunately stopping a receiver channel has always been tricky. When you stop a receiver I would expect it's status to change to STOPPED immediately but the channel will still be running for a while. Essentially until the sender channel reaches the end of a batch of messages or sends a heartbeat. So, one is in the confusing position, sometimes for minutes, of the receiver channel be STOPPED and yet running.

[The statement above assumes just the vanilla STOP CHANNEL command rather than using MODE(FORCE) etc]

However, when you start a channel life is easier. If a sender channel goes through binding and then running status you know, with some certainty, that somewhere there is a receiver/requester channel that is now RUNNING.

Of course at the end of the day both ends of the channel are independent programs, connected usually by a TCP socket, so at any instant in time you could have one terminate and the other one, in RUNNING status, having not yet noticed.

Hope that helps,

Paul.
