I installed the message broker v7 and MQ v8,
during start, I got:

BIP8075E: A Java exception was caught from class 'com/ibm/broker/config/util/MQSIList.main'. The text is 'java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: JVMCFRE003 bad
major version; class=com/ibm/mq/MQException, offset=6'.
A Java exception was caught via the JNI.
Check preceding messages for related errors and retry the operation. If the exception still occurs, contact your IBM support center.

I am wondering if the broker v7 can live with queue manager in v8?

Thanks,

I guess it's more a question whether WMB v7 can run on java 7... which is the minimum for MQ V8... your message shows the broker is running with Java 6...

See, my reading of the question is "Does v7 support MQ v8?"

And there's no hard part about that question.

I am not contesting your reading in any way. However if he does want to attempt the unsupported configuration (at his risk and peril) I wanted to point out that the error he was showing us was related to a java version problem.

I tried to find out if the broker v7 can run with the MQ version 8.
With my test, I don't think so.
The broker v7 will always rely on the IBM MQSeries service. I used to install both the MQ v7 and V8, however, specify a queue manager in V8 during the mqsicreatebroker, however, the broker can be created, but it could not get started.

Also, it is nice to find out the java requirement
