So i have a external client looking to interface with our application using MQ client. I am normally not a big fan of clients because I don't want the extra overhead in administering someone else's queues on my system and having them possibly exhaust the QM/system if their application is misbehaving such as exceeding the number of connections, not closing their connections, etc...
So i'd just like to see your feedback on this? Do you normally allow external client connections to your QM's?
Thanks guys! |

If you don't allow clients then I guess you would prefer a QMGR--QMGR connection with SDR/RCVR channels?
What about MQIPT?At least this stops the clients having direct connections through your firewalls.
The question about allowing client connections to your queue manager is difficult to answer. For us, the answer is yes BUT.... {There is one and explaining that would involve me having to describe our business scenario and I can't do that here}
The access we give clients is limited to the queue's they need to (plus the DLQ). You can manage it if you put your mind to it.
So to sum it up....

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |

These are all easily managed risks, through queue maxdepth, MAXINST and MAXINSTC, MCAUSER SVRCONN channel attributes, SSL-enabled channels, CHLAUTH rules.

Yes, with appropriate constraints. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
