Hi All,
I am not very new to MQ, as i have some programming experience using JMS and MQ. I have some idea of all the basic concepts of MQ.
I would like to know what are the typical responsiblities of MQ Administrator in a support enviornments ? what extent the MQ Admnistrator should aware of programming concepts ?
Please kindly answer my questions.
Regards

its not that easy to explain through.....
production Support person can become a good developer
But a developer will take some time to become a Production Support person
do you agree with this. _________________ Regards

infact there are 2 levels of support:
L2 Support : Entry Level support
L3 Support : Expert Level Support
Let us know which support you belongs to. _________________ Regards

AFAIK, there is no fixed list of responsibilities for a WMQ admin. Here are few from top of my head:
Installation, upgradation, maintenance
Creation of WMQ objects
In-depth understanding of how WMQ works as a whole, different objects and their classification
WMQ Logging
Trobleshooting
Security (authoriZation, authentication, SSL, exits etc)
Backup and disaster recovery
Clustering
XA configuration
High Availability
On top of all the above, you need to have a good understanding of how WMQ fits in an integration solution. Previous programming experience is definitely a huge plus while troubleshooting and helps a lot during design discussions. |

Hi ,
What is wrong in that? Everyone will get exp once they get trained on hands on. Here Enthusiasm is important to learn and no matter how many years of exp we have.
