How to add 1000 remote QMGR in the MQ explorer.
To reduce the manual effort. |

It would be great if MQ explorer (and for that matter MO71) would read the CCDT to auto-populate the QM list.
MQ explorer can use the CCDT to determine the connection details for an entry that is being added. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error. |

You can use Queue Manager sets to reduce clutter of the Queue Manager navigation list in MQ Explorer. _________________ Glenn |

It is also hard way as I have to create channel in the 1000 qmgrs and then ccdttable file become huge |

MO71 does have a user editable config file at least. So, you can just generate the lines you need and then add them in.

I am assuming that like most sites, you already have a CCDT file coded, with all the connection information in it. (MO72 makes CCDT maintenance easier.)
The other thing that MQ explorer (or MO71) could do is spider around the MQ network, by looking at the currently defined QMs and picking up the connection details of other QMs from the sender channels, so as to add more QMs to the MQ explorer (or MO71) list.
That would be really neat to have, and impressive to watch as the list of QMs auto-magically expanded in front of your eyes.
Perhaps something for Mark Taylor to add into MS0P. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error. |

Also think about the performance impact of adding thousands of qmgrs to MQExplorer... querying every x many seconds? You might want to revise your polling interval, or avoid autoconnect!

Autoconnect is a pain as well.
Why do IBM do that? - I have to disable it every time on MQ explorer and MBX explorer - each time I add a new QM or broker.
Of course, thousands is an extreme case. But for more typical numbers any sort of productivity improvement in this area is welcome. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. IBM need to revisit MQ/MB Explorer performance in general. It's pretty shocking. Whenever my computer is crawling I will invariably open up Process Explorer and see it consuming 50% cpu. |

You could always try MO71. It is a far smaller, does far more and uses only a fraction of the CPU that MQ Explorer does. _________________ Paul Clarke

Eclipse-based = Java = cpu _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

But the WMB toolkit is also in Java and it's pretty slick.
I just think the MQ explorer and MBX need more developer attention given to them.
I avoid using MQ explorer whenever possible. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error. |

No. It is bad programming in the Eclipse plugin that equals high CPU. I use Eclipse IDE (separate install) with various plugins and do C & Java develop and it is extremely fast and I never have CPU issues.
When I start MQ Explorer (outside of Eclipse IDE), I see the CPU go up and down like a YoYo.
