I am in the process of managing the implementation of WMQ 7.5 and IIB 9.0. The EDI team is saying they are being told they need to purchase an AS2 adapter to work with the AS2 protocol to allow them to more closely monitor the success of messages. They are asking me if WMQ can be the transport in lieu of this AS2 adapter. Any help on this vague question from a newbie would be appreciated. |

If you are looking at file transfer, AS2 seems to be a relative newcomer.
Connect Direct (IBM bought Sterling) has been around for ever in the space.
MQFTE has also made a name for itself... You be the judge of what you need... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

I'm guessing as you have an EDI team you are exchanging data with external organisations.
So, if they use AS2 then you'll have to use AS2. If you want to move to WMQ then they will have to install WMQ. Likewise with Connect:Direct and MQFTE. _________________ Never let the facts get in the way of a good theory. |

Agreed. Also, DON'T be tempted to try an use the HTTP nodes in Broker to create your own AS2 implementation (I've seen it suggested in the past!). Its a VERY complicated protocol. I'm aware that both Partner Gateway and Datapower also have the ability use AS2. |

IBM Sterling B2B Integrator also has native support for AS2. This is probably better than MQ for sharing data with external businesses. _________________ Glenn |
