A customer said that the WMQ kit that they downloaded with their IBM ID was different from the one I downloaded and installed on their system on their behalf.
They are also saying that there is a unique license coded for them in the software and that they need to see it.

Are they talking rubbish?
I was under the impression that IBM didn't create a version of the download for every single customer or am I dreaming and they actually do?

It looks like I will have to uninstall everything from 11 fully working systems and re-install it all over again because they say I am using pirated software and it must be removed today. Note that I have done the due-diligence and verified that they are correctly licensed.

Can someone shed some light on this question and if there is a location on the IBM site that says definitively that IBM do not generate different versions of the download for each customer. I am trying to get hold of their IBM rep to clarify the matter but so far I can't reach him.

I've never heard of custom built (or fingerprinted) downloads from Passport Advantage.

I found our Unix support had accidentally installed the trial version of MQ the other day

I had told them to find the (free) MQ client on the web - but I didn't mean the trial version!

Customers are supposed to download the package from what might still be called passport advantage.

Business partners and etc. are not supposed to supply download packages, even if customer is licensed.

Are they the same package? They're by no means fingerprinted, at least as far as I know. But it's not a relevant question. The procedure is the procedure.

Thanks jeff. I know that we aren't supposed to do that but this customer would not let the Passport Advantage login details be released to the people that mattered and with the same breath they were asking why we had not completed our work by the deadlines. viz scenes of banging heads on brick walls at their frankly daft logic.

Then when we had just completed the work they come up with this malarkey.

You are not licensed for the product, the client is. The license you agreed to when you downloaded WMQ limits what you can do with it.

Unless you are a licensed re-seller, you violated your license agreement. Further, you put your client in the same position - installing unlicensed software.
