Yes - the InfoCenter is full of them.
Typically you change them because you want to use a different character set (also known as a code page). Clue's in the name. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Basically God, in her infinite wisdom, has given us computer systems with all possible kinds of binary representations for commonly used characters like the '', and WMB/MQ use code page ID's to recognize the representation used by the source, and to convert to the representation used on the target system.
