Does anyone want to see additional forums for MQSeries monitoring and other 3rd party tools? For instance, we could have separate forums for the Tivoli, Candle, QPasa, etc., monitoring products. It seems like most enterprise implementations of MQSeries has some sort of monitoring tool, so I would think there is a demand for it. I myself may need this since I just got the responsibility for our Candle monitoring system dumped on my lap...

Brandon, maybe a single forum for 3rd party tools would be sufficient? I haven't seen that much volume of questions here or on the ListServ. I am not sure if your technology allows susequent moving of topics and postings ... if it did and demand on a particular tool picked up, these could be retroactively moved to a new topic. |

I think a 3rd party monitoring tools section would be very useful. Although there hasn't been much activity on the Vienna listserver I'm sure people would appreciate an extra forum. Maybe the title could be just "MQ Series monitoring" and people could then post their own home-grown code/procedures/etc |

Yes Neil, that's a good suggestion. One forum should be sufficient, and yes, if I need to split it out into individual forums later, it is pretty easy to move the messages to the correct forums. Also to the point about the listserv, it didn't seem like there were many questions there about MQSI, but that seems to be one of the most popular forums here. I think the demand was always there but people may have felt the listserv was only for MQSeries issues, not MQSI. But hopefully this monitoring forum will find some use...

I'm interested in some ideas on home-grown monitoring. We are starting to use MQseries for AS/400 and I am interested in finding out what type of procedures are being used to monitor and restart Mqseries objects. |

Rinkwesth,
You might be interested in a program I just posted to the software repository. It shows the basics of how to use PCF commands to alter MQSeries from your applications. Nearly all the major monitoring tools for MQSeries are based on PCF. Here's the link:

How about an MQ Series Security Forum.
Could cover MQ Secure, Policy Director products and other security issues. |
