Hi,
Currently we are using below software for our SAP interfaces.
- WebSphere Message Broker 6.1
- WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for mySAP.com 6.0
The first one is already out of support, the second one will go soon out of support.
We will upgrade WMB 6.1 to IIB 9.0, but what to do with the SAP integration ? I see 2 possible solutions.
- Use the SAP adapter that's included in IIB 9.0
- Replace "WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for mySAP.com" with "IBM WebSphere Adapter for SAP Software"
Are there pros & cons for those 2 possible solutions?
Kind Regards, Herbert |

Is this still 2 separate products? Or is the SAP adapter included in WMB/IIB just the "IBM WebSphere Adapter for SAP Software"
With WMB 6.1 and "WBIA for mySAP.com" it are 2 products with MQ in between. |

The short answer is no, the SAP adaptors are included with IIB9 and there is no extra licence charge to use them!

No, but that could just be my reading skils ... According to that page, the SAP adapter inside WMB/IIB is improved a lot (of course, everything is better with a new release).
With the combination "WMB 6.1" and "WBIA for MySAP.com" there where 2 choices.
1) Or use the SAP adapter inside WMB 6.1
2) Or use the "WBIA for MySAP.com 6.0" product that is installed separately.
The site I work currently has implemented option 2) with MQ as transport layer between WBIA for MySAP.com and WMB
Ok, now the upgrade plan:
- WMB 6.1 will be IIB 9.0
- "WBIA for MySAP.com 6.0" will be "WebSphere Adapter for SAP Software"
My conclusion at this moment is that "WebSphere Adapter for SAP Software" is at runtime level not a separate product anymore. You can use it inside WAS (with WPS, WESB) and inside IIB but not anymore stand-alone. (feedback about this conclusion is welcome)
My current plan is now to do this as 2 projects. First replacing WMB 6.1 by IIB 9.0 but still using "WBIA for MySAP". For WMB/IIB it are just normal interfaces with Message Flows & Messages Sets (with MQ as transport). That it is coming from SAP or going to SAP is not relevant at this point.
And then as a second project, replacing WBIA MySAP by the SAP adapter that is included in IIB 9.0 |

cool
Licences, thats an interesting subject too ... now we have the WMB 6.1 Configuration Manager on a separate windows server then the WMB 6.1 broker, with 3 environments D/A/P, so the IBM licence tool, ILMT, did see 6 servers with WMB software ... I think that was a bit to much ... the PVU's from those 3 configuratoin managers should not have been counted. |
