Hi,

Having trouble installing IIBv9 on AIX :

It appears the IATEMPDIR variable is ignored when you set it on AIX to direct temp install space away from /tmp to another dir.

The error message still seems to show its looking at /tmp and even after i cleared the required space requested in /tmp it produces the same - insufficient space error - checking back in the manual it seems to require much more space then its asking for (and more than i have in /tmp).

Annoyingly this IATEMPDIR appeared to work in the DEV environment as i happen to have a much bigger /tmp and therefore never realised the issue!

...looking around a bit on google it appears other IBM products have the same problem but the only fix i could find : to create /tmp/.noPrqchk doesnt seem to work for IIB

Anyone found a work around for this ?

I raised this question with IBM and apparantly as i'm installing via a sudo command i need to add the temp dir variable inline in the sudo command (or add it to the sudoers file)....will be a while before i can confirm this works but looks like a possible solution.

The sudo will start a different shell with the different variables

The /etc/sudoers file is a config file in unix.

One thing you can put in there are the names of any environment variables that you want to propagate the value of when running sudo commands (i.e. into the new shell automatically).

Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error.
