Hi

I have a problem where on our very busy mainframe the mqseries channel initiator xxxxCHIN gets swapped out occasionally and then cannot get swapped back in because the CPU is so busy. It has stayed swapped out for 20-30 minutes at times. Its MQSeries V5.2 on OS/390.

The sys progs have it at a very high priority but they do not want (on IBMs advice) to make it non-swappable.

Generally during the day messages are arriving every few seconds, so there is usually work for the channel initiator job to do.

Does anyone know of another way around this (other than buying bigger CPU ) ?

We had that problem also. We made it NS and haven't had a problem since. I don't know of another way around it.
