I recently downloaded and installed the V7.5 MQ Demo onto a Windows 7 machine.
I had the installer create a default queue manager and configure it. After the install I had the a Queue Manager up and running. But I soon noticed I could not add queues or channels etc.
Under /users I now have a directory called "MUSR_MQADMIN" but I can't enter the folder because I am not mqm. In fact I discovered there are not users or groups called mqm. The system will not allow me to create a mqm user ID.
I have not performed many windows installs, and when I did, it was a V6.xx Qmgr. A little help would be great! |

Review the WMQv7.5 InfoCenter on security. Seriously. One of the new features of WMQv7.5 is the enhanced security and additional control over the administrative user. You almost certainly need additional security records. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

A careful review of the security section of the MQ information center confirms my original belief that the installation process should create the mqm user ID. In my case it clearly did not.
If someone who is an expert with MQV7 on Windows can give me some guidance that would be great.
In the meantime, I am going to uninstall MQ. then try to create an mqm user and group ID manually, and then then do a re-install.
any better ideas?

The mqm group is used on Windows servers. The installation process will create that group.
You will not have an mqm ID on a Windows server with MQ installed because you cannot have an ID with the same name as a group it is a member of on Windows systems. _________________ Peter Potkay

On windows mqadmins should be members of both the mqm and administrators groups.
And you may have to run at the elevated command prompt to do anything mq related...
