Hi all,

On AIX and Linux we have several qmgrs running on MQ7.1. It is the only installation. We will be installing 7.5 on these servers as well.

V7.1 is installed in /opt/mqm_71
v7.5 will be installed in /opt/mqm_75

Am I correct to think that the qmgrs don't have to be stopped before the installation as it will be installed in a completely different directory?

You are correct. You have either set a default instance or set the instance before you do any work on your Qmgrs. If you stop one of your existing Qmgrs and set the instance to the WMQ 7.5 version and start that Qmgr, it will be migrated and cannot be run with the WMQ 7.1 version (instance).
