I need help in setting up a qdepth monitoring in mq without any tool, I was wondering if there are any commands or scripts which anybody knows of?
for ex: PLAN.OUT is a remote queue and we need to setup qdepth monitoring for both 80% and 100%
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!![/b] |

You cannot monitor a QREMOTE for depth. A QREMOTE has no concept of depth. I suggest you read the Monitoring section of the Info Centre, and as regards doing any depth monitoring of queues that can be monitored for such, without a 'tool' you'll be (yet again) reinventing the wheel. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Thanks for the reply, It does not matter whether its a remote queue or local queue, just curious as to whether there is any way of setting the qdepth alert with command or script...... |

Hi,
There are Queue Depth events which you can configure. Look up QDEPTHHI, QDEPTHLO, QDPHHIEV, QDPLOEV and QDPMAXEV attributes in the documentation.
Essentially you can configure the Queue Manager to generate an event message on a queue when the depth of a queue goes beyond a 'high threshhold' or drops again below a 'low threshold' or indeed when the queue becomes full. The event messages only apply to local queues since local queues are the only type of queue which can actually have messages on them,
Of course if you want some kind of automated operation you would still need some program/tool etc to monitor for the event message and 'do something'. However there are a few free tools around that will do this.
It depends of course about what you want to do with the information.
Hope this helps,
Paul. _________________ Paul Clarke

Google knows more than I do. |
