A small taster:

New ESQL features
This release introduces a number of new features to ESQL:

Support for SQL schemas and modules
SQL schemas and modules are now supported. In conjunction with improved tooling, these allow you to create libraries of modular, reusable functions, and procedures.

Support for XML namespaces
A comprehensive set of facilities are provided for handling messages whose fields have namespaced names.

Enhanced database SELECT function
Most restrictions regarding the SELECT function when operating on database tables have been removed. You can now:

Use any ESQL function or operator within SELECT expressions
Use complex AS clause paths
Use any ESQL function or operator within AS clause expressions
Use any ESQL function or operator within WHERE clause expressions
Nest database selects within other selects (database or message)
Use database selects which return a scalar anywhere in scalar expressions
Join messages with tables
The only remaining restrictions are that you cannot use expressions within FROM clause paths and that, when joining messages with tables, the tables must precede the message fields in the FROM list.

Module level variables
Module level variables (that is, variables visible to more than one function or procedure) are now supported. Additionally, the predefined reference variables (for example, InputRoot) now have module level status so that they can be accessed directly from subroutines.

Enhanced bit stream handling
There are now improved facilities for creating message trees from bit streams and vice versa. These facilities actually appeared in the previous release's later CSDs but were not fully documented.

Enhanced string function library
A full set of string functions, similar to those supplied by most databases, is now supported. The new functions are LEFT, REPLACE, REPLICATE, RIGHT, SPACE & TRANSLATE. In addition, the existing POSITION function has been enhanced.

Enhanced numeric function library
A full set of numeric functions, similar to those supplied by most databases, is now supported. The new functions are ACOS, ASIN, ATAN, ATAN2, COS, COSH, COT, DEGREES, EXP, LOG, LOG10, POWER, RADIANS, RAND, SIGN, SIN, SINH, TAN & TANH

The page where it is supposed to be available appears to be http://www-3.ibm.com/software/integration/mqfamily/support/summary/wbib.html.

However, I'm getting a 404 when trying to download U200199.

don't know. Friday I downloaded the GA code from Partnerworld and it's sitting around on my laptop for 3 days already and according to IBM I need to apply the CSD before doing anything... ofcourse I couldn't resist...

I know I know... patience ... hopefully hold my breath for a couple of days and then on to the bleeding edge...

I don't know that I would trust anything you downloaded on Friday.

I've heard it said that it was the right thing to do to wait until today.

The WMQ product manager at Hursley told me the code went to "manufacturing" several weeks ago. But I don't like the look of that 5.0 "readme" - too many caveats in there for my liking.

Is this a a renaming/rebranding of WMQI v2.1 and a new release? Do we need to contact IBM in order to get the new release?

Thanks,

Yes.

It depends on your contract. I'd contact local IBM support and check.

The v5 manuals aren't "manuals". They're WAS 5.0 style Eclipse compiled HTML files.

Welcome to the new world.

And you cannot print Eclipse compiled HTML files at once
You have to print one topic at a time.
