Hi Folks,
A quick question: The company I am with are long time WMB and WMQ users.
They are about to start working with Connect:Direct in some areas of the business.
The question I have is that, although the individual and distributed server nodes of Connect:Direct are subject to a separate license, I am wondering do I need to license the Connect:Direct node on the Broker servers or would they be covered under the broker license(in the way the local WMQ installation is). I say this in the context of having recently upgraded to WMB v8 and I notice Connect:Direct nodes are built-in.
Note: My sales rep seems unsure and is happy to sell me licenses for the Broker nodes
Thanks,
G. |

WMB have SAP & CICS nodes built in and neither product is covered by the broker license.

If your IBM sales rep / account manager says they're covered by the broker license, then they're covered by the broker license because your site's licensing deal is whatever they says it is.
If they say the Connect:Direct server is covered by the broker license, pass them my way because we have to pay separately & would very much like that deal.... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Don't give up on getting the account manager to sign off that you're covered first. Trade on the uncertainity... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

If you install any C : D software on the broker machine, you need to license that.
If you only install Broker software on the broker machine, you only need to license that. |
