Our normal system administrator is out on vacation, but I need to connect to a remote qmgr through my MQ Explorer to look at some message data. I'm trying to setup the connection properties, but can seem to figure out what properties I should be setting. Its been a while since I've connect to a remote QMGR, but when I go through my notes on how to do it, I get an SSL configuration error.

The first thing that jumps out by looking at the QMGR channels, I don't see the default SYSTEM.ADMIN.SVRCONN channel that I'm used to (which I believe is a user defined channel as opposed to an actual "system" channel). I do have the following SVRCONN channels:

13 : dis channel(*) chltype(svrconn)
AMQ8414: Display Channel details.
CHANNEL(CLIENT.PROD_QMGR_QM) CHLTYPE(SVRCONN)
AMQ8414: Display Channel details.
CHANNEL(SYSTEM.AUTO.SVRCONN) CHLTYPE(SVRCONN)
AMQ8414: Display Channel details.
CHANNEL(SYSTEM.BKR.CONFIG) CHLTYPE(SVRCONN)
AMQ8414: Display Channel details.
CHANNEL(SYSTEM.DEF.SVRCONN) CHLTYPE(SVRCONN)

I've tried connecting through them, but I keep getting SSL configuration errors. The channel definitions show: I see that SSL is REQUIRED, but I don't see what the SSL configuration is defined
AMQ8414: Display Channel details.
CHANNEL(SYSTEM.AUTO.SVRCONN) CHLTYPE(SVRCONN)
ALTDATE(2013-07-09) ALTTIME(10.55.51)
COMPHDR(NONE) COMPMSG(NONE)
DESCR(Auto-defined by) HBINT(300)
KAINT(AUTO) MAXINST(999999999)
MAXINSTC(999999999) MAXMSGL(4194304)
MCAUSER( ) MONCHL(QMGR)
RCVDATA( ) RCVEXIT( )
SCYDATA( ) SCYEXIT( )
SENDDATA( ) SENDEXIT( )
SHARECNV(10) SSLCAUTH(REQUIRED)
SSLCIPH( ) SSLPEER( )
TRPTYPE(TCP)

Any help would be appreciated.

Your normal system admin has clearly taken the wise precaution of securing the channels with SSL, so your first problem will be identifying the SSL you need at the client end

SSLCAUTH(REQUIRED) does not imply that SSL is enabled on the channel. A non blank SSLCIPH enables SSL. This needs to be set to the same value on both ends of the channel. Of course appropriate certs and key stores and passwords also need to be set up.... It seems that currently you don't know much about configuring MQ SSL. You might have an up-hill battle trying to do this while your admin is away.
