Does MO72 support MQ 7.5?

When I use AMQCLCHL.TAB produced by MQ 7.5 to read/update via MO72 i get this error.

C:\mqsc>mqsc -n -t c:\mqsc\AMQCLCHL.TAB
>dis chl(*)
Sorry, this program does not support reading version 10 channel records

This would appear to indicate it doesn't.

You might also find this useful.

If I remember correctly you can enter the command

mqsc -v?

and it will tell you the versions of MQ that this version of MO72 Supports.

I think it fairly likely to be honest that it doesn't support 7.5 judging by the release dates etc but I can't quite remember.

I would of course offer to add 7.5 support but IBM is not letting me update MO72. Perhaps I really should think about adding CCDT in to MQSCX. I wonder how much of a fight IBM will put up

Cheers,
P.

I could not resist.

I would prefer an MQE plugin that would allow me to manage CCDTs. IMHO I don't see that they belong to any one Qmgr. The intent seems to be that they represent multiple Qmgrs or paths to a Qmgr and several other things.

I know this was made before XML, but even better would be to use an XML document instead of the CCDT. Please get in the "Way back machine" and do the preferred thing.

I agree that logically CCDTs don't really belong to a particular Queue Manager. However, MQ configuration has traditionally only been at the Queue Managers so you inherently get this unfortunate limitation. That is one of the reasons that CCDT editing via MO72 has been so useful.

I'm not entirely sure I agree that an MQE plugin (and I assume you mean MQ Explorer here) is a better solution. I would have thought first and foremost you would want a scriptable method. Having a GUI on top would, of course, be a bonus.

A CCDT made out of XML has been mooted before although I can't remember whether there is an official RFE. There is no doubt that there are some advantages, it would mean that people could use their favourite tools to edit etc. However, it could also cause potential problems. Today we effectively have define time correctness checking. With an XML file you more likely have runtime correctness checking. Of course one could effectively implement something like this today, at least for the C client, in a PreConnect exit. If I felt there was sufficient demand I might have done so myself

Cheers,
Paul.
