Hi,

On our development server we have two installs of MQ Client: 7.0.1.7 and 7.1.0.1. The binaries for the first are located at /opt/mqm, and the second are at /opt/mqm_7101.

We followed the directions for uninstalling 7.0.1.7, and the result is that the /var/mqm directory was uninstalled, but we need it for the 7.1.0.1 instance!!! We did not make a copy of it beforehand.

What can we do to fix this quickly?

Thanks for your quick response.

Thank you for the quick reply Jeff.

Is /var/mqm automatically removed in a Solaris uninstall of a MQ Client (7.0), or would the root user need to specifically remove it with a rm -r ?

No idea.

Haven't touched solaris in several years.

Also, Solaris zones make me nervous.

And rightly so.

Depending on how (and indeed if) zones are in use here, a number of OS level mechanisms could have made parts of /var automagically disappear.

No it is not, the /var/mqm directory structure is left in place by all UNIX uninstalls.

The uninstall instructions for WebSphere MQ 7.0 on Solaris at: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/topic/com.ibm.mq.amqdac.doc/sq10800_.htm say

Quote:
5. If there are no other WebSphere MQ installations on the system, and you are not planning to reinstall or migrate, you can delete the /var/mqm and /etc/opt/mqm directory trees. Deleting these directories destroys all queue managers and their associated data.
