I am havin trouble configuring my MB to work with oracle rAC on Oracle 11gv2. My RAC scan name is not resolving to the 3 ip addresses the hostname is tied to. Telnet and ping are resolving and so are other java applications. Also Oracle RAC apparently scan directs the connection to one of the instances at respective ip's. If that is the case, what is the use of alternativeServers line in the ORACLERAC configuration stanza. The connection works with primary ip and other two ip's in the alternat servers but we want to avoid using ip's and give it just the RAC scan name to resolve through DNS.

Did you see the footnote?

OracleRAC is supported, with a limitation.

Quote:
On all Linux, UNIX, and Windows systems, you can use Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) databases. For Oracle RAC XA and non-XA, failover support is limited to the Connect-Time Failover feature only.

It seems the dynamic host switching feature you are trying to use is not supported. Only the single connection to a single IP seems to be supported. You might like to open a PMR for clarification, or submit feedback on that InfoCentre page.
