Hi

Does anybody know if IIB is GAed and available to download via Passport Advantage

I tried to search but to no avail

I tried to search based on the part number (D56P3LL) I found from the below link but still couldn't find it

http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/ShowDoc.wss?docURL=/common/ssi/rep_ca/3/897/ENUS213-133/index.html&lang=en&request_locale=en

I don't know if that is the right part number because so far the part numbers I have seen started with C.

Please let me know

24th June I thought.

I am not now nor have I ever been privy to IBM's release schedule.

A simple google lead me to the page you posted. There is a "Planned Availability Date" section, which says that the release date is June 14th.

Which might very well be different from the date when it is available electronically.

It specifically states that electronic distribution is on June 14th, I'm afraid the op will have to wait until then

You're welcome. I wouldn't bother trying it out until at least Fixpack 2 is ready for it. V8.0.0.2 is still having fundamental problems with the artifact organization (Application/Library/Subflows). Until that issue gets fixed and migrated to V9, you won't be able to do a whole lot of V9 things anyway: its pretty much the same toolkit as V8.

Like buying a car, do you want a 2014 Honda Civic or a 2015 Honda Civic? Each model looks the same, drives, the same, gets pretty much the same gas mileage. Just that the 2015 model is ready for firmware updates that the 2014 model can't use. The firmware is the same in both cars until the update is ready, which won't be for at least another year. So better wait and save more money first, then buy the 2015 when the firmware update is out.

Thanks,

I was said that a client already have it, and wanted to do some mock test in the incoming months. So I wanted to have a look at it, but now I am a bit suspicious concerning the fact that they "really" have it.

thanks again lancelotic

It's entirely possible that customers have a beta copy.

Using any software release at GA is always a question of risk analysis.

IIB v9.0 does things that are hard to do in MB v8. Even if they end up being buggy, it may be easier to adopt IIB for those things than adding function in v8. But you won't know until you try it.

I'd never reject out of hand using something that was GA'd, simply because it was GA'd. I'd reject moving it into production immediately without driving cause, and even then I'd make sure that driving cause had been regression tested...

Of course it will be buggy....lot of lessons learnt especially with v8.0...we will wait until fixpack 1 or 2 released and pretty excited to see the product evolution as the powerful integration bus. Just curious to know why it re-branded without WebSphere in it..any specific reason?

My take on this is that there are far too many products with the 'WebSphere' branding (and other IBM Brands for that matter) that it gets really confusing for new customers to find the particular thing they want.

don't get me started on how you go about explaining PVU's to a new customer.
often it leads to swiftly followed by and
