Hi,

how do i obtain the WMQ Client? I dont need the complete Server Environment but only the client for iSeries. Must i buy the complete server product to get it? Or is there a seperate buy possible. I am clueless at the moment and i appreciate any help on this.

Clients are supplied as a separate product and you need not buy a server version to get a client. Can just buy the client version for your platform.

You can also download a client and install it on your system which is an evaluation version. Dont remember how long the license is valid for, you can check the IBM website for the same.

Cheers
Kumar

Of course, the client is only useful if there's a server SOMEWHERE to connect to.

So if you're not going to be talking to some other institution that's got a server installed, you're going to need to buy the server as well.

Here is a site where you can download free clients.
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/integration/support/supportpacs/product.html#wmq

The only iSeries client is the java client (supportpac MA45)

thanks for your answers. Of course there is a WebsphereMQ Server in the overall framework, so this is not the problem.

BTW i havnt seen any pricing informations yet, can it be that the java client for iSeries is free of charge?

I believe the Java client now ships with the MQ product, rather than being support pac MA88. Check your MQ 5.3 CD-ROM.

Yes, zpat is correct. But make sure you select custom install. It is not install by default. Go figure.

later

i know its part of the WEbsphereMQ product, but must i buy the complete WebsphereMQ product, just to use the Java Client classes? Sounds weird somehow.

The support pac link was given above, follow it and look at MA88.

But what use is a client without a server?
