Hi,
I've come across a very strange one. New to me, and I can't find a hit in searches. Apologies if I'm just not searching right.
Messages coming to MQ from WAS have the "Append RFH version 2 headers to messages sent to this destination" checkbox ticked, which inserts an RFH2 Header. Fine so far.
When I browse the messages using MQ Explorer, I see that the messages have format MQHRFH2. Still good.
The issue I have, is that the developers browse this queue using MQ Explorer and they see a message format of MQSTR!
I found 1 developer seeing the same as I do, and 3 seeing MQSTR. They compared connection details (Viewer SVRCONN with Read-Only MCA User). All the same, and same MQ Explorer version I'm told.
Has anyone come across this phenomenon? Am I going mad?
Thanks,
Ross. |

RFH2 headers are transformed into Message Properties in many cases. |

But I can see this with format MQHRFH2, and somone else looking at the same message on the same queue/qmgr sees it differently.
Would the transformation apply here? |

I think it might be from the following setting...
Preferences;
Websphere MQ Explorer;
Messages;
Message Properties.
Either uncheck "Shown Message Properties", or select "as Named Properties".
I need to look into these further...[/img] |

Also compare MQ versions being used for the tools. Message Properties did not exist prior to MQ 7. The people showing RFH2 headers may be using an MQ 6 client. _________________ Peter Potkay

Thanks Peter.
I'm showing RFH2, and on Explorer V7.
I wonder if the difference is MQ Server install Vs MQ Explorer only. I have a full server installation.
My setting was RFH2, although the restore defaults set it to Named Properties.
I didn't change it personally, so not sure was it a diferent installation that did this.
Thanks,
Ross. |
