Hi mates,
does anybody know if mo72 is working fine with WMQ V7.5.
Last year on IBM's WebSphereTechnicalConvention I heard someone shouting that it doesn't works fine.
And there is no update on IBM's support site for mo72 since then.
Share your experiences with me pls.
Thank YOU! |

You can set the version level of the CCDT that is produced with MO72, as these are compatible with newer client versions.
I still create my CCDTs at the v6 level, because we have some V6 clients but the same files work with v7 + clients. |

I'm not sure what that has to do with the runtime compatibility of MO72 itself and the 7.5 MQ product APIs? |

Well, it tells him that he doesn't need to create CCDT files under MQ 7.5 (or at the 7.5 level) in order to use them on MQ 7.5 clients.
When just using MO72 to create CCDT files, I am not sure it would even use any MQ product APIs (using the -n option).
Anway, I just ran it under 7.5 and it worked fine to create a CCDT.

I agree that it's likely Paul Clarke spent a lot of time writing function that was already written in the base product.

I don't see any indication that JULRICH had any interest in managing CCDTs.
But it's nice to know that at least that function works. Even if one can also achieve the same end with MS0T and the MQ Client... |

It's a lot easier to use MO72 that the messy way of defining the channels on a QM.
Being able to control the version of the CCDT being generated is also useful.
Is there any additional function in the CCDT between MQ 7 and MQ 7.5?
Granted - this does not relate to the remote MQSC function.
I personally use MO71 to open a MQSC window to other QMs and this seems to work OK to a 7.5 QM. |

Incidentally - on the subject of MS0T - I cannot begin to tell you the hassles that I experience using MQ explorer.
It's slow, jerky, blanks the navigation pane, gets nullpointer exceptions and all kinds of other issues.
I suspect some IBMers use command lines, and don't experience these explorer issues themselves (or surely they would be sorted by now).
Yes, I know I should open PMRs on these (or requirements) but it's easier just to use MO71 and get the job done now.
If it wasn't for MBX and MS0P - I would never even try to use it. |

You've mentioned on several occasions.
The only times I've seen it do that myself is in cases of bugs between MBX and MQE.
And somewhat obviously, it works less well on less powerful machines. |

I just installed fixpack MQ 7.5.0.1 - it had the effect of disabling MBX (or at least the broker folder vanished on MQE).
Try as I might, I cannot get MBX to appear on my navigation pane again. I've uninstalled and re-installed MBX 8001.
A MBX 8002 install caused a "The MQExplorer executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library" error. Now I can't use MQ explorer at all.
I am getting to the point when I will have to completely uninstall MQ and start all over again.
The "Joy" of Eclipse...! It may have something to do with my virtual desktop and the way it handles admin rights though. |

I've heard this from someone else.
I've not installed 7.5.0.1 yet myself, so.
I strongly suspect that the issue is that 7.5.0.1 got installed into a new mq installation, rather than updating the existing 7.5.0.0 installation, and this created a brand new installation of MQExplorer that does not have MBX installed into it.
I've not had the other person who has this same issue verify that yet. But it's at least worth a check. |

Well, my MO72 seems not to work anymore with MQ 7.5.0.1
Code: |
29-09-2013 20:27:31 - Process(6332.1) User(root) Program(amqsputc.exe) Host(T500-IBM) Installation(Installation1) VRMF(7.5.0.1)
File damaged.
The program has detected damage to the contents of file ''.
Record the values and tell the systems administrator who must restore a saved version of file ''. The return code was '2004' and the record length returned was '2002'. |
No matter if I use SSL or not, it was a neat tool. Just bad that Paul didn't succed to make it a cat3 SupportPac.
It would be a great thing to have as part of the server and the MQ Explorer package. _________________ Regards, Jørgen

There seems to be some incompatibility with the CCDT at level 7.5.
A client / qmgr @ 7.5 cannot correctly interpret a CCDT created @ 7.0.
If the CCDT is of the same level as the client, no problems.
Have fun _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
