Greetings all!
About 10 years ago the good people in DB2 land delivered the DB2 MQ Listener. This process runs under USS that listens on a queue and invokes a stored procedure as defined in a control table.

I don't see a lot of open problems against the facility, but hopefully that is because it is so simple and straightforward there's not much to break. Hope is a marvelous thing.

I am looking for responses to a non-scientific survey from those that use this tool. I keep hearing it's widely used, but no one seems to know for certain.

1) Does your company use the DB2 MQ Listener on z/OS?
2) If so, how long has it been in use?
3) What is the approximate volume of messages per day invoking stored procedures?

Many thanks to all!

yes
2) If so, how long has it been in use?
Over 5 years
3) What is the approximate volume of messages per day invoking stored procedures? They use it to recall archived bills. Around 10,000 requests a day. I'm sure it can be driven much harder than that w/o any problem.

Depending on your organization, make sure you define who is responsible for this software. MQ is a real small part of MQListen. There is much more configuration needed in DB2 than in MQ. The MQListen product comes on the DB2 RSU - to me they should configure and support it.
