Hi,

Help required on this....

I have a developer who's using MDB on Weblogic to connect to my MQ server. The problem here is even though the EJB descriptor is configured to have a "Max Beans in Free Pool" to be 5, somehow, I get more than a hundred of connections coming in to my server and killing my MQ server as a result.

Is there anyway to control the number of client connections the MDB make, since the Max Beans setting doesn't seem to work at all?

I desperately need to control the number of incoming connections to my server from this menace...TIA..

As above, but you could try ME71 - WebSphere MQ - maxconn exit
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/integration/support/supportpacs/individual/me71.html

But, it does just mean that 'extra' connections will get refused - not ideal for a working system. Can you monitor the number of connections ramping up as the developer does a test? Are they limiting the thread-pool-size aswell?

Good luck,
Vicky

shucks, i'm running 5.1, so that rules out using ME71.

i'm quite puzzled as to how an application server with 15 execute threads and 2 max beans in pool can establish more than 100 connections to the qmgr.

apparently, 1 mdb does not equate to 1 connection to my qmgr.

is there any other way to go about solving this other than writing security exits?

exasperated,
bernard

Found out from BEA that it's a big they've fixed on WLS6.1 SP4. i've raised a CR for WLS 7.0.

see below:
As discussed I have found a CR related to your problem. The CR number is CR083098. http://support.bea.com/application?namespace=askbea&origin=ask_bea_answer.jsp&event=link.view_answer_page_solution&answerpage=solution&page=wls/S-13378.htm
