Hi,
I am trying to install Mqseries 5.2 and MQSI on Solaris.
MQseries was successfully installed and installation verified.
Now when installing mqsi , the install script throws this message.##
Code: |
Verifying package dependencies.
WARNING:
The <mqm-upd02> package "'MQSeries for Sun Solaris 2 -
U469913' (sparc)5.1.0 " is a prerequisite package and
should be installed.
Do you want to continue with the installation of <mqsi> [y,n,?] |
I then installed this package (mqm-upd02).
Now after this package is installed mqseries stops working,
commands like strmqm do not work.
When mqm-upd02 package is removed mqseries again starts working and commands strmqm, endmqm are successfull.
I had earlier installed mqsi without this package(mqm-upd02) and then I had problems with createbroker command.
I then removed all the mqseries and mqsi packages and tried this fresh installation.
I am in a catch 22 situation.
Please advice.
Regards

Hi
I ran a script to check the version of the update package got this output
Code: |
application mqm MQSeries for Sun Solaris 2
application mqm-upd02 MQSeries for Sun Solaris 2 - U469913
PKGINST: mqm
NAME: MQSeries for Sun Solaris 2
CATEGORY: application
ARCH: sparc
VERSION: 5.2.0
VENDOR: IBM
PSTAMP: p000-L001106 (packaged: November 07, 2000 - 05:51:46 AM)
INSTDATE: Jun 10 2003 15:09
STATUS: completely installed
FILES: 6319 installed pathnames
143 executables
47 setuid/setgid executables
149186 blocks used (approx)
PKGINST: mqm-upd02
NAME: MQSeries for Sun Solaris 2 - U469913
CATEGORY: application
ARCH: sparc
VERSION: 5.1.0
VENDOR: IBM
PSTAMP: caymanm07212609
INSTDATE: Jun 11 2003 16:22
STATUS: completely installed
FILES: 107 installed pathnames
50 executables
20 setuid/setgid executables

This shows that the patch is for mqseries 5.1 and that must be the reason why mqseries fails.
Please advice if mqm-upd02 MQSeries for Sun Solaris 2 - U469913
is available for 5.2 and if not is it essential for MQSI as it says while installing
Thanks and Regards

Hi,
The MQSI 2.0.2 Installation Guide for Solaris says only that you can use
MQSeries Version 5.2 but not the exact CSD Level.
I do not have a CD of your MQSI version,
take a look at the readme.txt of your product CD.
There you should find the needed CSD Level for MQSeries 5.2.
You can also download the latest CSD (CSD4 for MQSI2.0.2 Solaris),
and extract the contained readme.txt.
Greetings,
Frank

MQSI 2.0.2 Installation Guide for Solaris
Prerequisite software
The following products are prerequisites:
v Sun Solaris Version 2.7 or 2.8
v IBM MQSeries for Sun Solaris server Version 5.1 or later.
Version 5.1 must be at service level Corrective Service Diskette (CSD) 4 or
later. CSD 6 is supplied in the MQSeries Integrator package. To find the
current service level, use the following command:
pkginfo │ grep mqm
You should look at readme.txt on the product CD to see the latest levels of
software required. If you want to run the Scribble or Postcard samples on
Sun Solaris, you need to have installed the MQSeries Client for Javaâ„¢ on
that machine.
The installation program checks that you have MQSeries for Sun Solaris
Version 5.2 installed, or Version 5.1 at the correct service level.
If you do not have the MQSeries components you need, you are
recommended to install these before you continue with MQSeries Integrator
installation. You should check to see that these components are at the
appropriate service level.
Note: Version 5.0 is not supported at any service level. |
