Using MQ Explorer V5R3 on WIN 2K box I have created some remote QMGR connections.
One of these has a connection name error and I would like to delete this
remote QMGR. The documentation all says , right click , then delete .
I do not get the delete opition. Documentation also states you must STOP
QMGR . then delete . The only option I get is to CONNECT.
I have tried the DLTMQM command , and always get QMGR does not exist. Soooooooo, if anyone has an idea on how to delete a remote QMGR , which was conifgured thru MQ Explorer incorrectly , I would appreciate the input.
TIA |

You don't want to actually delete the queue manager itself, right, you just want to REMOVE it from showing up in your Explorer?
If so, you just need to hide it from the view in Explorer (this removes it from the MMC list). Right click on 'Queue Managers' and choose 'Hide Queue Manager'.
I don't think it's possible to delete a remote queue manager from Explorer anyway. You could do it remotely using the MQSeries Services snap-in, though. |

Thanks for the quick reply. You are correct, I did not want to acutally delete the remote QMGR, just the MQ Explorer "view " of it. I knew about the hiding option and thought there had to be some defintion that needed deleting as well. Once I "hid " the remote QMGR , and then tried to "show" a remote QMGR , that same remote QMGR, by redefining the connection to it (QMGR name and Host name), I get the following message:
AMQ4083, which states QMGR name not known, if REMOTE another QMGR is using this connection name.
This leads me to believe there are some remnants of the old defintion still being seen . ?? There is currently on 1 remote def on the box , and it is getting this AMQ4083 message. Any further thoughts given this follow up info. TIA , very much appreciated........ |

Did you save the MMC file between the Hide and the Show?
It has not been my experience that the MMC file keeps track of things that have been hidden. However, I could be wrong.
The other option of course is to create a new MMC file from scratch. |
