Scenario - App places message on Broker Input Queue- Broker sets MQMD datetime and then puts to MQ output queue, which is cluster queue and resolves on another remote machine local queue...

so.....
App putdatetime is say 15:45:00 - Broker retrieves and resets to CURRENT_TIME which is say 15:50:00 and then at the end of the transaction, whic is 1 min 50 seconds in elapsed time, messages appear on remote QM with date timestamp of 16:51:50 , the MQOut node is "setting all context" etc etc BUT there is this hours difference. The Remote QM has the same datetime as the Broker (centrally set) so how can the datetime on the remote QM messages be exactly an hour more (almost like daylightsavings).

Baffled or missing something simple

Thx

The MQMD.PutDate and MQMD.PutTime is always referenced to GMT. If you are seeing some other time, its related to how the local machine is applying TZ info to that MQMD.PutTime.

lancelothic - yes quite but like my post said what would be applying that? - the remote machine's QM is exactly the same time as the Brokers so I would expect maybe hundreths of seconds displacement but not an hour.
When doing date function on the remote box (SUSE Linux Server) it would say an hour ahead and the only app per se would be the agents running on the end of the channel to put the message on the target queue which I would have thought would be using the local system date?

There are a ton of timezone related APARs.

Here is a link talks about setting the Locale, which may be related to your issue.

I dont expect it to be related to actual time duraction; just a display of the right TZ info.

Open a PMR to get a definitive answer.

missing something simple.
MQ as said previously does not deal with CURRENT_TIME or local time.
MQ only deals with CURRENT_GMTTIME.

Also there is no guarantee that both hosts have the same GMT time setup.
Some admins just set up the local time... as box time... instead of setting up the GMT Time for the box and letting the time zone of the user logging in do the conversion....

Have fun
