Hi!

Im running WMQ 7 with an AD account on a windows 2008 server.
Now the Windows admins want to change the password for this AD account.

Can i just rerun the WMQ wizard and set the new password?
Any risks doing this?

Why does the Windows admin want to change the password, and will it be a regular thing? Also, which specific version of WMQ?

If you have a lot of WMQ infrastructure using a domain-level account it's going to be pretty disruptive having to reset each box every time the password is changed. Use the wizard or command line to reset the box.

This is a "one timer".
How to do this from command line?

the password in question is stored in the dcomcfg of the mq service, unless that's obsolete memory.

The correct and approved way to change it is using the Prepare MQ Wizard.

There might be an mq command option, windows only, to do this - there used to be something with amqmdain, but I believe that's obsoleted now.

So, hie thee to the info centre and research. (only to always please call it research)

mqjeff, there is now a command line option for Windows but added only relatively recently I believe (but could be very wrong as is my usual default state!)

Blomman, the keyword to search on is amqmsrvn.
