Hi,

Could anybody help me???

My application system is running in a pure AIX system.
Another application system, (which is my partner) running
in a Mainframe OS/390 system, wants to send messages to me.
It wants to send the messages to the queue in the MQ manager
running in its OS/390 system. And my system gets the messages
from her queue.

My question is
1. What software (MQ client) do I need to install in my AIX system?
2. How to take care the security?

Thank you!!

You can use MQSeries 5.3 for AIX.

I'm using it, interchangin messages among OS/390, VMS, AIX, HP-UX,Solaris, etc..

Maybe this help you. This is a part of MQSeries Client manual - Second edition (October 2002):

The components you can install on AIX systems are:
WebSphere MQ client
The WebSphere MQ client code for your UNIX platform.
Samples
Sample application programs.
Support for DCE in samples
The DCE samples support. This should be installed only if you are going to use DCE.
Runtime component
Support for external applications. This does not enable you to write your own applications.
Base
Support to enable you to create and support your own applications. Requires the runtime component to be installed.
WebSphere MQ Client for Java
This allows Java applets running on your client machine to communicate
with WebSphere MQ. It includes security exits for encryption and
authentication of messages sent across the Web by the WebSphere MQ
Client for Java. These exits consist of some Java classes. To use the client
for Java you need to have Java runtime code on your machine, at the
following (or later compatible) levels:
AIX Java version 1.1.1
For information about Java runtime see the WebSphere MQ Using Java book.

Hi jcc7m:

A couple of points that you may want to consider.

1. Application Architecture.
Which is it more appropriate to have on AIX?
a) an MQ Queue Manager or
b) the MQ client?

Given your particluar requirements, there may be arguments that favor a local QM on AIX over a client interface.

2. OS/390 MQ Client support
If you intend to use the MQ client interface on AIX then is the required licensed feature that supports it installed on the mainframe? You will need the Client Attachment Feature (CAF) installed on OS/390.

Hope this helps. Best of luck.
