Hi,
Anybody knows if WMQI 2.1 is compatible with UDB V8.1 on Solaris. I'm looking into upgrading UDB to 8.1 but not sure if the version is supported by WMQI 2.1
Thanks

It may not be supported but it does work on Windows XP.
My setup is:
WMQI 2.1 csd 04
MQ 5.3.1
DB2 8.1
Websphere 5.0
Everything does work fine _________________ Daniel Lamond

I think what you meant to say here is that your specific implementation of this works fine
The way this works is that IBM will be testing DB2v8 against a version (or versions) of their product and when all
combinations (XA, non-XA, MRM, Pub/Sub, etc) have been tested across all supported platforms (AIX, Solaris, HP, Windows, OS390)
and they are satisfied with the results then they will update the relevant Supported Software pages.
I think we can be pretty certain that this work is already underway (DB2 is a key IBM product and WMQI will need to support the latest version) and the reason that the Supported Software pages have not been updated is that (1) the testing is not complete or (2) problems have been highlighted and being addressed.
It is also worth noting that if you choose to install an unsupported configuration and there are any problems then IBM will not support you.
Again, I would refer anyone asking this type of question to the Supported Software pages as this is the ONLY source that counts :

If you are considering upgrading your DB, you might think about upgrading WMQI also. There was an announcement that WMQI V5 is due out about Jun 27th. There is a post here with the link, but I forget which one. Anyway, the announcement stated that it was using 8.1 as a DB.
If you do go to V5, be sure and let us know how it goes. |
