Hi folks,

I need to perform several IDoc to DB and DB to IDoc mappings, most IDocs a are very sparsely populated.

The SAP team requires that we set any empty IDoc fields we send them to "/" which is apparently the SAP no-data indicator.

Doing this explicitly within the mapping node complicates it by orders of magnitude (there are hundreds of empty fields!).

Given that this appears to be a well-known SAP "feature" I'd expect that there must be a way of doing this implicitly in WMB rather than via a brute force mapping (e.g. setting defaults at IDoc import time would be cool).

Can anyone help me out with this?
Cheers,
F.

Get them to provide you with a bitstream that represents a valid SAP IDOC that is completely empty - no data in any field.

Insert this bitstream as the value of a constant field in your ESQL.

PARSE this bitstream using the relevant SAP parser.

Populate the necessary fields with actual data.

But in theory, the existing message models will have this character set as a null data value.

Also, this does not sound like an IDOC rule but more like a BAPI rule...
