The IBM-supported WMQ base APIs are described in the WebSphere MQ Application Programming Reference manual (and InfoCenter equivalent). These include MQCONNect, MQOPEN, MQPUT, etc.. Included are examples of programming language-specific invocation. And, yes, there are 25 of them documented in the v7.0 APR manual.

Use of WMQ and Java is documented in the WMQ Java manual.

I've always taken that to mean the 25 API calls WMQ provides.

They're in the InfoCenter.

Lord knows I don't like to disagree with Wikipedia but I don't think that API section is right. An API is a means of accessing the functions, of which there are 25 documented ways.

That's a slightly misleading list of supported languages from which the APIs (or MQI to use the IBM term) can be accessed. Via these, you can access the MQI from any language (almost any language can call C or Java).

I also draw your attention to the fact that page has a health warning on the top of it.

Yes, you are both right : wiki did absolutely mislead me.

I also though of programming languages, not API calls.

That's the reason I was listing in my question ... C, Java, perl, etc

Sorry for the confusion.

If it's any consolation, the Wikipedia entry may be unclear or misleading, but it's not wrong. It doesn't claim that the given list of languages is complete or exhaustive, and the usage of the term 'API' itself can be ambiguous; (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_programming_interface):

Quote:
The term API may be used to refer to a complete interface, a single function, or even a set of APIs provided by an organization. Thus, the scope of meaning is usually determined by the context of usage.

Regardless, Wikipedia may be a good starting point, but the WMQ InfoCenter is a better ending point.
