Hi all,

Yesterday my Toolkit hung while working and I had to force close it.
Since then it won't start up.
The splash screen comes up, stays that way for a long time and when I check task manager, it says the task is Not Responding.

I have taken a backup of my workspace folder.

I tried the solution mentioned here - http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19844

But then nothing happens why I click on edited shortcut.
I suppose the "Starts in" field doesn't corresond to the workspace.

Is there a way I can start the Toolkit and force it to point to a fresh workspace?

Any help would be much appreciated! Approaching deadline and I don't have access to the Toolkit

Hi whydieanut,

Check out if you can use -data parameter when starting your Toolkit.

Quote:
The command line parameter for workspace is --data

If you run Eclipse as eclipse -data d:\eclipse.workspace, Eclipse would start using the workspace as d:\eclipse.workspace

Another thing to try is running eclipse in 'clean' mode. See here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2030064/how-to-run-eclipse-in-clean-mode-and-what-happens-if-we-do-so

(You'll need to modify your eclipse.ini in the toolkit directory)

do you have to select your workspace whenever you start your toolkit?

sometimes the window does not show up i have found

you may have to kill the process in task manager and start again

the screen splash will not go away until you select your workspace

Thanks all!

Read somewhere about the -data option. Created a shortcut as:
"C:\Program Files\IBM\WMBT700\eclipse.exe" -data "C:\DATA\workspace" -product com.ibm.etools.msgbroker.tooling.ide

and got it working

Checked the "prompt for workspace on startup" option

Now the question is how to proceed from here.
Tried copying the .metadata folder from original workspace to a the new workspace folder. Toolkit opened and showed all existing projects as closed (as the project files themselves weren't copied to the new workspace)

Now am thinking of going ahead with a new strategy.

Created a WORKSPACES folder, with 1 folder for each new project inside it.
Will open Toolkit with the new workspace for current project (folder inside WORKSPACES) and then manually import project files for current project from earlier common workspace.

Any suggestions on this approach? Any better way of maintaining projects?

Did you try the -clean option on your old workspace? Might be a simple fix which wouldnt require you to move workspaces. Its worked for me before when the toolkit wouldnt start.

Tried it, but didn't work for me, which makes me think I didn't do it right.
Anyway had a lot of junk in old workspace.
Think I'll stick to working with the new one...
