I have a question on how people are applying fixpacks in V8.
In a W2K env I noticed that when I applied fixpack 8.0.0.1 in created a new directory structure C:\Program Files\IBM\MQSI\8.0.0.1. I let it default.
Now the issue I have with this is that now I'll need to manually change the service to ensure that bipservice is loaded from 8.0.0.1\bin. Also, I'll need to update any ODBC entries that use IBM shipped drivers that were create pointing to 8.0.0.0.
So I am wondering what others are doing. Also, can I just point the fixpack to the 8.0.0.0 directory whwn I install it? Any issues with doing that? |

You can just point the installer at the same directory.
You shouldn't need to alter the Windows services, as far as I remember.
It's either automatically handled, or handled if you start the broker manually under the newer fixpack (or set the capability level...). |

mqjeff is correct, if you start the broker from a 8.0.0.1 command prompt then the service will automatically be reset to the correct location.
Did you really mean Windows 2000 here?

W2K is an old bad habit to indicate windows. We are running 2003 R2 SP2 with plans to migrate. |
