I have the following questions on FMCIBIE and build time.

1.
I have two categories. Say "xyz" and"abc" in build time. "xyz" has process template "123" "456" and category "abc" has "789". Now I would like to export "789" from category "abc". I want to export all objects. Hence I gave
fmcibie -uadmin -ppassword -all.fdl -yFMC -c"EXPORT ALL". I know now this exported both "xyz" and "abc".
My question is how to get ALL OBJECTS of only one category say"abc" alone and how to get process say "456" of "xyz".

2.Suppose I have a process "123" and I have user id "12_3" in development and same in Test environment.
I wanted to modify the user "12_3" to "12-3" in development. To do so

I have added user "12-3" in build time exported fdl into runtime in Development.
Then deleted user "12_3" in build time exported fdl into runtime in Development.
Now I would like to export the fdl from Development and import it into Test runtime. My question is would it perform the above steps in the same order like "add" and then delete" or will it modify use id in one step.

3. Is there any good documentaion on fmcibie with more examples than mentioned in "getting started with build time".
Thanks

1) Unfortunately the only object that you can usee the DEEP option on is PROCESS, I tried for PROCESS_CATEGORY and it is not supported. You will need to export these one at a time. If this is a major thing for you, you could consider writing a tool that would do an Export of all the Processes, then scan for the Categories.

2) I am not certain I understand what you are asking... But If you had this export FDL it would contain a Delete and an Add, so I think it would be 2 separate steps

3) Not really, the doc is not good as you know

1) I agree with JOHN on this. I dont even understand why they have Process category in Export. It appears like we can export processes in a perticular category, but it is not possible. At one point I wanted to write a parsing utility to parse out the info I need, but then thought I would divert my effort to more usefull ones.

2) from my understanding, if you export your FDL from Devel, you will only see the definition for user 12-3. There wont be any reference to user 12_3. so you will only be able to add user 12-3 to test, but not delete 12_3.

3) I wish there is a better documentation for the whole product instead of just FMCIBIE.

You got that right... But then again, I used to make my living teaching this stuff... So the lack of doc has served me well.
