I've just set up my new Windows 7 desktop and done the following
1. Install Eclipse v331
2. Install WMQ v7013 (full) - server and client (includes explorer)
3. Apply WMQ fixpack v7018
4. Install WMQ MQ explorer only v7.5 (support pac MS0T)
5. Install Message Broker Explorer v7004
Now that results in MBX being added to the standard MQ 7018 explorer only and not to the MQ explorer v7.5 (MS0T)
So I installed MBX again - changing the directory to the MQ explorer v7.5 (MS0T) one but there is still no "brokers" option appearing.
It looks like the software is installing in the right place but the it's only updating the plugins for the standard explorer installation.
Any idea how I can fix this? |

No underneath the install path for MQX there is a folder (plugin or links).
The link name is litteral so you need to look for a file with exactly that name.
You will find it in a directory like C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\WebSphere MQ\eclipseSDK33\eclipse\links
The link file's content points to the location of the MBE install.

I add the link file to the only links directory I could see on the 7.5 explorer installation and nothing happened.
MQ explorer is very annoying. I have had nothing but trouble using it in MQ 7.0.1. (thankfully MO71 works well).
Looks like I will have to rip out MQ 7.0.1 and install MQ 7.5 only to get the setup of MQ explorer that I want. |

Start the underlying eclipse platform (eclipse.exe) with the -clean option.
Then close it and start the 7.5 MQE. With a little luck you could see the broker stuff. If not look for the broker perspective once started...

Where do I find this "eclipse.exe" program and invoke it?
I have just removed everything, installed WMQ 7.5 only and then MBX 7004.
Guess what - MBX still doesn't appear in MQ explorer.
The WMQ and MBX guys need to sort this stuff out.
I suppose I can try MBX version 8 and see if that works. |

Nope. MBX 800 also does not appear. I really hate Eclipse when its plugins don't work.
This is from the installation log
Quote: |

Additional Notes: ERROR - java.io.FileNotFoundException: parent did not exist when attempting touch on path: C:\eclipse\links\com.ibm.wmadmin.broker.explorer.link

There is not (and has never has been) a directory called C:\eclipse
Any ideas? |

I don't know that it's supported to use MBExplorer from v7.5 yet.
Especially since no level of Broker officially supports MQ v7.5 yet.
But using the version of MBExplorer that comes with v8.0.0.1 is your best bet. |

Can I get MBX 8001 from Passport Advantage? Which part of WMB 8001 does it come with?
The 8001 MBX is not on the support pac site yet. |

MBX comes with the runtime package. |

Have to admit I have been watching this thread
I had no issues with MBX
I installed everything on my laptop and bingo bongo all this there
Isnt it part of the standard install? _________________ Who is General Failure and why is he reading my hard drive?

I've used it before with MQ 7.0.1 and it works OK.
The problem here is getting it to work on MQ Explorer 7.5.
You might ask me why I want to use 7.5. It's because the earlier MQ explorer has always been a pain for me.
1. Extremely slow (on a 2 year old laptop).
2. Flickering of the navigation pane is very annoying.
3. Completely blanking the navigation pane regularly.
Apparently the MQ explorer in 7.1 and 7.5 is a lot better. Also some of Mark Taylors plugins need the newer version.
But I also want MBX which doesn't seem to like the newer MQ installation. |

MBX is available on FixCentral as a separate download file with the Runtime updates. "8.0.0-WS-MBX-WINIA32-FP0001.exe", for example. |
