Greetings. Back in 2009 I tried to do research into using TXSeries on a Windows platform using Vista. Had many difficulties and eventually gave up.
This past week I tried downloading TXSeries 7.1 and I get a message at install time indicating the install process discoverd an expired license. I see by other posts I am not alone here.
Is this a bug? Or is there some way to get around this. I have tried many things including wiping out the product entirely and do a RegEdit to get rid of Registry entries. Plus a number of other "tricks".
Another thing, I notice on some publications that on Windows the prescibed OS is Windows Server 2003 and yet on other publications Vista is deemed as an OK OS, peculiar? Since the install works well to a point I assume Vista is acceptable.

Bruce Barclay.

Renew the license.

I don't want to renew the license.. It is for research only to help a client decide whether they want to use TX. Hence the reason for trial licenses!!!

Trial licenses expire, too. What was the exact error about an expired license?

Thank you for your reply. much appreciated.
Back in 2009 I was doing research for a client on TX. Had several problems and had to abandon project because of other priorities. Client recently asked me to restart TX project and when I reinstalled the latest trial version I continually get licensed expired messages. I tried uninstalling, used regedit to get rid of registry entries and other "tricks". Alas, to no avail.

Does this mean I will NEVER be able to test TX?? Seems to be very restirctive and unwarranted. I have downloaded other IBM software and not experienced this problem. Perhaps it is a bug or an unintended "feature".

Appreciate any guidance here, thanx again.

Exactly what license expired messages? What product? What version? Post the error messages here?

use a vmimage.

<shrug/>.

I'm not sure anyone particularly wants to publicly help you defeat ibm license protections.

Nor do I want to try and defeat IBM's license protection but surely if after 3 years I want to try again is that an unreasonable request? I should not like to think so.

I am not trying to circumvent the rules established by IBM, quite the contrary, but I think I have a reasonable case to present.

To me by being so restrictive it's like saying "you used it once, didn't work, tough... don't darken our door again".

I don't disagree with that.

But I'm not an IBM intellectual property attorney.

You probably missed a file somewhere, however.

What I mean is, you possibly missed deleting a file that should have been deleted.

Or missed deleting a registry entry, or etc.

No such luck... I tried several approaches and double and tripled checked my search for files not deleted, registry entries, ad infinitum.
No stranger to this.
But thanks for the suggestion.

In the meantime I see at the IBM Developerworks site an option to buy the
IBM Software Access Option, part of SAC, IBM Software Access Catalog. It's for a year's subscrition and apparently gives me access not only to V7.1 but earlier versions as well.
So, I may have to go this route but not my first option.

When you downloaded txseries in 2009, you agreed (you clicked a button) to terms of use that included a limit of 90 days. Yes, 7.1 is a newer version/release.
