Folks,
I am interested in learning of what tools everyone uses to perform their UPES operations in workflow. We currently have a nice little home grown java application that performs all the message operations. Although it works okay for now, but sometime in the near future we would like to replace it, hence the research.
I know Crossworlds (now known as Inter Change Server (ICS)) is a popular choice when people want to exploit the UPES technology that workflow provides. Just curious to know how others are handling their UPESing...
Are there any other tools that are capable of doing this?
Any input is appreciated! _________________ Praveen K. Chhangani,

I dont see any reason why I should complicate the UPES. Any small program that can parse through XML should be more than sufficient, atleast to my understanding.
I like to keep the UPES as simple as possible.
If you are looking for other tools, I think MQSI does the task. _________________ -Ratan |

Praveen:
Of course I am biased, but I think the SYSCOM Inc. Message handler does a good job with this.
I would NOT use ICS for this, as you are introducing a Huge overhead, this is especially true if you are not using ICS for anything else.
I agree with Ratan, that a program which parses the messages should suffice. _________________ John McDonald

Praveen,
I guess the decision of which tool(s) to use depends largely on what your technical architecture / infrastructure is - particularly what you are communicating with.
If the WF is interfacing to 'modern', dynamic, call-return based system(s), then Java sounds good.
If it's talking to more diverse 'legacy' based systems, asynchronously, then MQ Integrator is great (so long as MQ messaging is generally acceptable).
I'd only consider using ICS if it gives benefits over and above 'MQI. e.g. if it gives ready-built integration with the system(s) you are interfacing with. _________________ Nick Whittle
