Since version 9, db2 supports the storing of well-formed XML document in DB2 tables.
Has anyone used this new capability from database node or compute node to insert, update and retrieve XML document from message flow?

Almost certainly, someone has. The InfoCenter documents supported conversions between database data types and ESQL data types.
The question was about a DB2 XML data type introduced as of DB2 v9, supported as of WMB v6.1. The answer does not lie in a seven-year old post about DB2 VARCHAR and WBIMB v5. |

But it does point out the fact that the OP didn't perform even the most basic due diligence. I could have posted forty links.

You shouldn't have needed anyone to point you to the right document.

No, it doesn't even do that. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't; sometimes the relevant documentation is hard to find.

No, it doesn't even do that. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't; sometimes the relevant documentation is hard to find.

mqjeff's sentiment may be misplaced here. The OP had merely asked whether anyone had used the new DB2 XML datatype; he hadn't actually asked for someone to point him to the right document. He's not the one whose lack of "due diligence" is wasting other people's time. |

I'm always willing to admit that I'm grumpy and short with posters based on HOW they say things, rather than WHAT they say, and that this is a failing and may not be of service to the community.
This particular poster has a history of asking questions that do not sit well with me.
This particularly question is, as you pointed out rekarm01, directly addressed in the documentation. Part of learning to use Broker is learning to use the documentation. |

I'm sorry I'm going to go with rekarm01 on this one.
The OP did not ask how to do it. He asked if anyone had done it. Kind of are there any gotcha's that I should know of, that aren't in the manuals or the books? Can't fault him for asking that...

I disagree. The "Manuals" show it maps to an ESQL BLOB.

I very much promote mqjeff's statement as being accurate. It is a mental exercise sifting through the WebSphere Message Broker Infocentre, even with the help of Google.
I have some aggrevation with the state of the InfoCentre:
1. There seems to be a definite lack of extensive code examples by design. Occasionally, you will find a few lines of example code here or there. The samples make up for the lack of examples in the documentation, however, I find it very easy to follow docs with specific examples.
2. When looking for some specific information, I end up in a round-robin of links with no more information that I started with before clicking. SSL information is a great example of a topic that needs a better overview with better step-by-step. Especially when some of the documentation talks about setting SSL on the broker level and some on the Execution Group level, and how to choose between the two. I finally came to know that SOAP node SSL properties can only be configured at the EG level. Would have saved me days of frustration if I knew this, but no where in the InfoCentre is this fact straight-forwardly mentioned.
3. Some places where the documentation is wrong takes years to get it corrected. Case-in-point the bru-ha-ha about Primary Group Id for the Service Id that Broker runs under must be mqbrkrs and not mqm group.
