What steps have you already taken to determine if this is possible?
What steps have you already taken to test this?
What documentation have you already reviewed that might apply to this?
What have you tried? |

Here's an idea.
TRY IT.
Go ahead and PUT in TWO addresses.
TAKE ACTION, rather than WAIT FOR ANSWERS.
Then tell us what happened. |

My question is why do you need to? In your earlier post you indicated that MQ1 & MQ2 are an active/passive cluster under the control of Veritas. So why isn't Veritas shifting the traffic?

So long as you've access to a file editor of course you can. Will it work? Test it and see what happens. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Why not?
That's the whole point of using something like Veritas instead of an MQ multi-instance configuration. That the veritas or etc. will move all of the needed resources for a given component between the active and passive node.
This should always include the IP address/hostname that is used to talk to the queue manager.
The MQIPT documentation should have some discussion on what can and can't be put into the mqipt.cfg file. It should have some discussion on how MQIPT can or can't be used to talk to highly available queue managers.
MQIPT is a Category 3 SupportPac. This means that you can open PMRs regarding it's use. |

Then your Vertias cluster is set up incorrectly, or whoever's administering it has sold you a bill of goods so they can go home early.
The point of Veritas & similar software is so that you don't have to worry about such things but leave it in the hands of the software.
If you can't or won't press this matter with your Veritas people, I repeat my confirmation that you can edit the file as you indicate. Only testing will demonstrate if it works, or a PMR if you're determined not to try it until you're certain. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
