Hi Friends,
I have been using MQ with WMB for couple of months now. From last week, I am not able to make any changes on MQ via MQExplorer. I am not able to add a queue to even the local Queue Manager.
Also it does not display the properties of any Queue.
The logged-in user is part of Administrator, mqbrkrs and mqm groups.
I am able to see messages on the queues and I am also able to create new Queue Managers!
I do not remember anything getting changes on user recently.
Any help appreciated. |

What changed last week? Do not reply 'nothing.'
Are you sure the id you are running the Explorer is still in the mqm group? From the same id can you runmqsc, for example? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Bruce, I do not remember making any changes on the system, off course other than writing some WMB flows.
I believe the 'user' that is using MQ Explorer is the user that is logged into the system right? Is there a way to change the user? I am using Win7 |

Are you the only person experiencing this behavior? Is this behavior only occurring on this one pc?
Other than posting here, what problem-determination steps have you taken? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

No one said you changed anything. Any domain changes?

Don't believe - know. And not in all circumstances because...

I asked if anyone else is experiencing this.
I asked if the username you logged in with is (still) in the mqm group. Have you checked this?
I asked if you can still use the runmqsc command. Have you tried this?
I asked if your pc is the only pc experiencing this. Have you tried another pc?
Please answer all the questions you are asked. Is there some reason you won't answer these questions? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Thanks Vitor for the comments.
Bruce, answers for your questions:
BRUCE: Is there some reason you won't answer these questions?
NewbieOnMB: Yes, I was on a trip and did not have internet access to check the forum.
BRUCE: I asked if anyone else is experiencing this.
NewbieOnMB: No, not in my team.
BRUCE: I asked if the username you logged in with is (still) in the mqm group. Have you checked this?
NewbieOnMB: Yes, the user is in the mqm and Administrator groups.
BRUCE: I asked if you can still use the runmqsc command. Have you tried this?
NewbieOnMB: Yes, I can. I am able to create queues on the Queue managers.
Code: |
C:\Windows\system32>runmqsc TESTQM
5724-H72 (C) Copyright IBM Corp. 1994, 2009. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
Starting MQSC for queue manager TESTQM.
DEFINE QLOCAL ('TESTQ')
1 : DEFINE QLOCAL ('TESTQ')
AMQ8006: WebSphere MQ queue created.
|
BRUCE: I asked if your pc is the only pc experiencing this. Have you tried another pc?
NewbieOnMB: I have the trial version in another PC and I am able to use MQExplorer properly.
More info:
Though I am not able to create queues via MQExplorer, I am able to delete existing queues.
Also I am not able to view the properties of even 'IBM Websphere MQ' node on the Navigator.

This is new information. Are you using the trial version on your pc?

This is not what I asked. Is anyone else on any team experiencing this problem.
What version of WMQ are you running on your pc?
What version of the WMQ Explorer are you running on your pc? Is this a recent (re)install of WMQ on your pc?
What version of Eclipse are you running on your pc?

This is not what I asked. I asked if your pc is the one and only pc experiencing this issue? I'm trying to discover how pervasive this problem is.
If yours is the one and only pc experiencing the problem, we can assume (until proven otherwise) that it is likely your pc software configuration that is the cause. So, what changes to your pc have you (or someone else) made?
You might want to uninstall and reinstall the Explorer and the per-requisite Eclipse software, then reinstall. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

The issue I am facing is on my office PC and it is not a trial version.
If I know that some one in this world is facing the same issue, I would have obviously told that here. To me more specific, no one in my company or friend circle is facing this issue. I did check this with the admin to know if anyone else is facing this, before even posting this in the forum!
I did re-installed both MQ, MB, Toolkit and Explorer (and eclipse) on last Friday, but that did not solve the issue.
The current version I have is:
MQ Explorer version: 7.0
MQ version:7.0.1.6
Eclipse: 3.3.2 - This one came bundled with MQ
I am sure something got changed unknowingly and that would have caused this issue. If I know that, I would have fixed it. I was trying to see from the forum if anyone has faced the same issue. |

The kinds of things that could have changed to cause this issue are - user permissions to file system resources
- user or group membership, either locally or on the server or in the domain
- mq level permissions on the server machine
- MCAUSER on the channel you're using to connect with
- SSL certificate information on the channel you're using to connect with
- software installation
- Windows domain permissions to OS level resources - like shared memory or network or etc
Not all of these are directly applicable to your situation, but they are all potential causes.
The MQ Explorer does provide tracing, so you should look at enabling tracing and see if that provides you some clue about what exactly is failing when you attempt to do something that doesn't work. |

You might be surprised to discover that most posts omit this, and other useful information. That's why we ask. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
