Therefore, IBM needs to provide its users (me) with the information in a format that I want to consume it in. Period - no exceptions.

So you'll ship MQ Visual Edit documentation on punched cards or 120 column continuous feed paper?

Do you have something smaller?

No.

Although, my wife purchased a Canon Pixma MG6120 Photo printer.
http://www.canon.ca/inetCA/products?m=gp&pid=4674

- 3-in-1 colour printer, scanner & copier
- Really nice photo printer
- Both wireless 802.11 b/g/n and wired Ethernet RJ45

I use it to print on printable CDs and DVDs. It works really well.

My wife purchased it last fall and it has been working very well. I have it connected via RJ45 to the router so that everyone in the house can use it.

If you need an All-in-One printer, you should check if Brother has a newer version of the MFC-9840CDW printer.

Sarcasm, will get you nowhere. I do provide MQ Visual Edit's manual in the format users want: Java Help format, HTML available online and PDF. For MQ Visual Edit, a hard-copy of the manual is extra and can be purchased (whereas MQAUSX, MQME, MQSSX, etc.. is included in the cost of the software).

So yes, I do my best to meet my customer's needs.

From Rogers post:

This is not a Beta vs VHS war (80s reference for those youngsters) but rather I want IBM to provide me with documentation that I can fluidly read. Yes, InfoCenter is fine for looking up a topic but not very good for reading.

And From my earlier post and my earlier ... earlier post ...

This discussion has a serious 'deja vu' all over again look to it!

So I will restate what I felt on this 2-years ago. (from July 2010)
Quote:
What if you just wanted to do some reading ... a PDF is the way to do it(next to a book anyway). A hyperlinked ... document is tedious to painful to 'read' if you can call it that.
It is a WIKI model useful for searching perhaps but if you wish to read in length and detail ... you want a book format ... not a busted up set of synopsized content snippets.

And I believe I saw a similar post by Bruce ... and others ...

How many times does it need to be repeated ? Clearly there is a tin-ear at IBM Corporate ...
You might as well be doing a Charlie Brown cartoon bubble dialogue (Wah wah wah wah wah!) ... that is all that is getting through.

On Jeff's sarcasm:

Maybe not! Those may indeed be his preferred modes of information ingest!

Indeed, I wasn't being sarcastic!

But, no, I don't want to read the infocenter on either of those formats.

But it raises an interesting question.

Would anyone be willing to pay for a PDF, rather than getting the info center for free?

Documentation is a mix of technical information and marketing. And, we're already paying for it - in the form of license.
