Nothing? Nothing at all?

Did you try it? What were your results?

Can they? Yes.
Should they? Debatable, especially in MQ 7.* where better options exist.

Yes

But would you want to do it? Would it meet all your requirements? Would you run into problems with message affinity? No idea.

This is not an easy subject. Please consider getting a consultant that is not an anonymous poster on a public forum.

We are planning to get an MQ consultant for this future project.
Thanks peter and mvic.
I guess we'll just need the mqserver variable then.

Yuck! - use a CCDT. It's not just for load balancing. Support pac MO72 makes it easy.

CCDT is good for failover but i AFAIK it does not provide load balancing.

AFAIK is wrong.

CCDT provides load balancing of client connections at connect time.

CCDT does not provide load balancing of messages. MQ clustering provides load balancing of MQ messages.

CCDT does not provide load balancing of messages. CCDT does not provide load balancing for new connections.

This is AFAIK is correct.

I can't help how far your knowledge goes; as my most worthy associate pointed out, it's incorrect. I direct your attention here:

Quote:
You want to balance your client connections across a number of queue managers, with more clients connecting to some queue managers than others.

That's what I think of when I think of load balancing.

I'll just pick and choose the best answers. Like someone here said we need to maintain a casual atmosphere. Editing is important sometimes

Just because a suit looks good does not mean it's fit to be worn for a birthday party.

And if you post on a tailoring forum asking how to make a suit for a birthday party out of tissue paper experienced people will probably post a lot of stuff about using 13 weight rag instead.

rvicter2 wrote:
I'm just saying i have a question...one person has suggested not to do so...why does every one follow suite and keep saying the the same thing with all the extra knowledge they have about it.

Because we all have the same experience with client load balancing and a CCDT is a better choice than an F5. If nothing else it's a cost saving.

It wasn't a question, it was an assertion. You asserted that a CCDT couldn't load balance. That's not the case.

rvicter2 wrote:
that's what i'm here for...i've done all the research for the alternatives, i need or not.

All the research? When you started out saying you couldn't find anything on Google.

Let me speak plainly then. A client connection via an MQServer variable is simply network traffic. You can route & redirect that traffic via BigIP, an F5 or other network level solution. It does work. It does not work well, and there are a number of pitfalls & problems you will encounter.

Which is why we do this sort of thing with a CCDT.

Thanks for the answer and the insight(honestly).

But my point(assertion) was CCDT does not load balance messages and does not load balance new connections. I stick by it.
