I am wondering why the "MonitoringProfile.xsd" is not distributed with WMB, or where I can find it.
I can't find it when I search for it, (I've searched for all "*.xsd" on the computer).

It is referenced from the WMB Info Center under the topic Monitoring Profile

Quote:
Creating a monitoring profile

To help you create monitoring profiles, the following sample contains an outline monitoring profile XML file and the monitoring profile XML schema file (MonitoringProfile.xsd):

WebSphere® Business Monitor

Validate your monitoring profiles against the XML schema to ensure that they are correct.

An XML file which an xsi schemalocation is in the example, but not the schema itself.

Yes, I can generate one myself but I really would like to use the "official" one instead.

One such schema can be found in the attached source to this excellent article: Generating events in WMB for transaction monitoring and auditing

It is unclear if that one is from the product or not.

Just want to be sure before I file a PMR.

I believe this comes with the Monitoring Sample, and is installed when you install the sample, but I could be wrong...

mgk is correct - the XSD in the sample is the 'official' version.

I guess I wasn't clear enough, although I tried to state that the sample only contains a monitoring profile XML, but not the XSD itself.
The XML has the xsi schemalocation for the MonitoringProfile.xsd but the file is not there.
I only checked WMBT 8 now, but I am pretty sure it was the same in WMBT 7.

The XSD for the WMBEvent is there though, and is also possible to get from the hmm, is it generate message definition from IBM supplied resources or something similar?

I did a search in a WMB v8 toolkit installation folder, and found MonitoringProfile.xsd. I suspect you can that it is an 'IBM supplied message definition'.

I can confirm that it appears as an option in the "new message model" window choices.

I have WMB 8.0.0.0 and WMBT Build id: 8.0.0-20111129_1446 installed on Windows.

I can't find the MonitoringProfile.xsd, can you please provide the path to it?
I've tried both with Windows search and find . -name 'MonitoringProfile.xsd' from my Git Bash console.

It can not see it in the "new message model" window choices, it contains:

Soap x4 (1.1 and 1.2, Encoding and Envelope)
    SOAP message tree
    MIME x2
    Message Broker Timeout Request
    Message Broker Monitoring Event
    CORBA IDL

I am not after the WMBEvent which is the event emitted once monitoring is configured...

Guess it is no big deal, but still, it bothers me, especially since you say you found it
I took the xsd from the developerWorks article instead and generated my JAXB classes from it.

You need to create a new message schema from an IBM supplied definition.

Then it will give you a choice for the Monitoring schema.

Are you absolutely certain you don't mean the WMBEvent as I previously stated?
It is not an option in my WMBT8 at least.
What is the name of the choice you say you have?
Isn't it "Message Broker Monitoring Event"? (--> WMBEvent, not the MonitoringProfile).

Okay. I re-looked. You're right, this is WMBEvent, not MonitoringProfile.

And I can't find MonitoringProfile using some basic searching.

Time for you to open a PMR.

In retrospective, I should have done that to start with

Anyway, PMR submitted.

Last post on this I guess.

Got feedback on my PMR.
The xsd is missing in the Monitoring sample in v8, but present in v6.1 and v7

Not Quite...

Just for completness and to stop any possible confusion with other xsd's, would you care to post the path to the file on say V7?

Sure, but it will have to wait a few weeks.
I am on paternity leave and I only do fun stuff when I get the time.
So on my laptop I only have a V8 installation.
I always have VMware images for my customers environments and they are at the office.

It should be included in the Monitoring Sample provided with the Toolkits.

Well, this missing schema sorta sucks. I was looking to see if I could possibly add the eventFilter element to a monitoringProfile myProfile.xml file on WMB v6.1.0.10 runtime, even though it isn't in the Toolkit's node monitoring properties (officially not available until v7), considering how much undocumented stuff is added with each fixpack. A monitoringProfile.xsd (with proper versioning) sure would have been nice. Guess I'll have to resort to testing...
mapa, if you are off maternity leave could you post that .xsd location? I searched v6.1, v7 and v8 toolkit and runtime directories, no luck.
