My own preference would be to add a shell script to common/profiles that performed a mount of the UNC directory to a named drive, so that the path was then "<drive letter>:\public" instead of using a UNC path.

You should be able to run very simple local tests, including user trace, to determine whether you need to include a trailing \ on the MQSI_FILENODES_ROOT_DIRECTORY.

You also might want to verify again that it is indeed MQSI_FILENODES_ROOT_DIRECTORY and not MQSI_FILE_NODES_ROOT_DIRECTORY.

We use

MQSI_FILENODES_ROOT_DIRECTORY=/var/ent/hub

On Unix and it works fine

as I mentioned above - same flow works fine with FileGet node and any sub-directory under MQSI_FILENODES_ROOT_DIRECTORY.

means it should not be an environment issue...
