By Setting MQMD.Expiry, is there any effect on MQ/WMB performance

I recall an APAR about how this was handled, to reduce the effect on any one MQGET when the queue has a lot of expired messages.

But the overall effect on the queue manager is probably very low. After all the messages have to be removed from the queue somehow.

Every setting has some effect on performance.

The question is, is that effect large enough to make a difference in your particular scenario?

The answer is - only you know for sure.
