Hi,
I am from mainframe background but new to MQs and in learning process.
As I understand MQs were used as bridge between two different systems to transfer and receive the data.
I have this question in my mind for long time and searching for answer in goggle and i have found this forum thought this is the right place to clarify my doubt.before asking i would like provide the background for it.
We have Mainframe server it connecting with another system ( small application ) through mq's. now we have intention to take it away the another system ( small application ) from mainframe server. ( take it away mean keep it in long distance physically ).
Question : Is MQ data transfer between two systems will be effected on physical distance between the two systems.? |

I'm going to make some assumptions as to your configuration.
You have a queue-manager on z/OS. You have a queue-manager on a small system (Windows or UNIX). Messages flow between these two queue-managers across SENDER-RECEIVER channels.
If this is correct, then the only significant difference will be the quality and bandwidth of the network across a long-distance.
Your network admins should be able to get a rough estimate of network performance with a simple tcp/ip ping command to and from both locations. Your network admins should have access to more thorough network assessment tools. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
